History of the Ordnance Corps

ORDNANCE CORPS REGIMENTAL CREST
The ordnance corps became part of the regimental system on 28 October 1985. On that date the ordnance corps regimental crest became the official symbol for the corps. The ordnance corps crest consist of crossed cannons, a flaming bomb, and a cannoneers belt. The crossed cannons are representative of the ordnance corps' early relationship with the artillery. The flaming bomb, also known as the shell and flame, represents the armament of days gone by, while the energy it cannotes symbolizes the weapons of our own day. The cannoneers belt, which encircles the flaming bomb and the crossed cannons, is embossed with the words ORDNANCE CORPS, USA." And represents the traditional association between munitions and armament. Soldiers who are affiliated with the ordnance corps wear an emblem with over 187 years of service to the U. S. ARMY.
