This site is dedicated by Charles A. Henry in memory of Private Christopher Oaks who died tragically on 13 December 1997 at the hands of a drunk driver.
At approximately 0220, on 13 December 1997, Private Ochs and two other soldiers were traveling west on I-264 in Louisville, Kentucky, when they observed a van that had been involved in an accident. Ochs and the two other soldiers stopped to render
first-aid to the driver who appeared to be in shock. Two police officers arrived at the scene later and used their patrol vehicle to detour traffic. Despite the flashing patrol car lights, a car driven by a drunk driver collided with the two police
officers and Private Ochs. Ochs was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. |
